Adidas‘s new running shoe could be the most performance enhancing yet, as its 3D printed midsole design means that athletes can personalise their shoe to tailor to their specific sporting needs.
The innovative tech-forward design is part of Adidas’s Futurecraft series, which puts emphasis on craftsmanship and open source collaboration.
This high performance running shoe works by creating a flexible, fully breathable exact copy of the wearer’s foot, creating the ultimate trainer in terms of comfort and ergonomics. The customer’s pressure points and contours will be detected and matched identically, resulting in a design that allows you to achieve your absolute best results.
“Futurecraft 3D is a prototype & a statement of intent. We have used a one-of-its-kind combination of process & material in an entirely new way. Our 3D-printed midsole not only allows us to make a great running shoe, but also to use performance data to drive truly bespoke experiences, meeting the needs of any athlete.”
Adidas partnered with 3D printing giants Materialise, to create the lightweight structure of the mid sole.
