Now you can snuggle in a cosy blanket all day long, thanks to Dutch zero waste clothing label Wintervacht, which upcycles discarded blankets into stylish winter coats.
Founded by Yoni Van Oorsouw and Manan Van Hoeckel, the Amsterdam based label, which means ‘winter fur’, in Dutch, was inspired by Van Oorsouw’s mother, who as a student, had three blankets by her bed, due to the lack of heating in the winter. Years later, his mother requested Yoni make her a coat, using one of her old dorm blankets – the lightbulb moment struck, and Wintervacht was born…
“The Netherlands used to have a very big industry of blanket-making. Millions of wool blankets were made here with the most beautiful patterns & colors.”
From beautiful textured long straight cut coats, to wooly two-tone unisex bomber jackets, there’s a design suited for every customer. Make sure to check out their online shop and follow their blog for up to date news.
