EDUN AW15 Collection Inspired by African Weaving and Tapestry

New york Fashion week is well under way, and one label we can’t overlook is Edun. This season creative director Danielle Sherman travelled to Fez and Tangier to study handwoven tapestries and was greatly inspired by the tunic silhouettes. The AW15 collection has a distinct moroccan theme, as well as a particular focus on colour blocking.

Sherman worked closely with artisans in Africa, who helped her to create the coat brooches and hand crafted rope belts, while the coats themselves were strictly European in style. Unravelled edges gave the designs a raw, perfectly imperfect edge and and emphasised the textured, woven influences.
