The first Ethical Fashion Show Berlin of the year took place on 19th 21st Jan – a platform for sustainable brands to showcase their ecological and innovative designs. Although based in Germany, the event brings in labels from across the globe, eager to connect over socially conscious style. Here are a few that caught ATTYRE’s attention…
Ahimsa is an organic and vegan lifestyle, footwear and accessories brand from Sao Paulo Brazil, with a range of laid back, sustainable casual street wear styles. All designs are handmade, from slip on styles to desert boots, to your casual everyday trainer.
Fashion and textile designer Farrah Floyd developed a clever way of adopting a no waste policy, by using solely rectangular pieces of material and working with pleats designed around the natural shape of the body. This interesting technique creates unusual 3D forms and means that no material is wasted and therefore no scraps are left behind!
Cowband bracelets are made from upcycled leather, handcrafted to create a distinct bohemian look. The Germany based label puts sustainability first, offering artisanal designs to add uniqueness to your individual style.
Dreams and Doors
Using organic and natural fibre fabrics, Dreams and Doors is a UK active wear label with an ecological outlook. Each style is produced in the UK, ensuring an 100% fair and transparent supply chain. Mixing quality, high performance fabrics with an easy, casual London aesthetic, Dreams and Doors offers you look good and feel good style with a conscious.
reWrap is an independent Netherlands based label that specialises in eco friendly macbook and iPad sleeves. The company adopts a cradle to cradle ethos, which means that all materials used are 100% biodegradable and can be easily recycled.
In this way, each product comes from, and returns to nature. For design, reWrap keeps it simple yet stylish with block colours and textures from sustainable wool felt derived from ethical farming practices. The vivid colours are produced using toxic free synthetic dye.
