Fashion month has come round once again, and as always ATTYRE eagerly anticipates seeing Maiyet’s latest designs hit NY, bringing artisanal elegance and ethical luxury to the catwalk, in the form of relaxed understated refinement.
“We reach out to the world for inspiration but we bring it back to New York when we curate it and make sense of it.”
Declan Kearney is the label’s new creative director, (previously design director of Alexander wang) and his debut runway show was no disappointment. Incorporating traditional ethnic techniques, structured utilitarian pieces mixed with iridescent shift dresses and detailed beadwork, giving the desert hued collection an eclectic practical meets bohemian feel.
The designs are a result of working closely with artisans across the globe, incorporating knits from Mongolia, hand woven Bolivian silks and Indian thread embroidery.
