Featherwood Frames’ Wooden Eyewear is Made Using Good Old Fashioned Pedal Power

Featherwood Frames Wood Startup Ohio based eyewear company Featherwood frames is pretty unique, not just because of the customised slick wooden designs, but because of how they’re made.

In an attempt to find new sustainable ways of creating products, as well as taking inspiration from nature, the design team use good old fashioned pedal power to veer away from hi-tech production methods and avoid using energy resources.

Feather Frames Pedal Power“How something is made is as important as what’s being made. Minimizing waste and environmental impact is a central driving theme to our craft and lifestyle.”

Simply, their motto is “High thought/low tech.” Featherwood Frames is all about minimalist techniques, but original concepts. By using bike energy, the company maintains itself on the lowest amount of energy, in keeping with their ecological ethos.

“Small scale, low energy production is a solution to the myriad of problems our planet is facing.”

Featherwood FramesKeeping the tradition of woodwork alive, the frames themselves are made using wood sourced from local forests in Yellow Springs. Check out Featherwood Frames’ introductory video below.
