As Fashion Month comes to a close, American label Maiyet once again brought ethics to the runway. The socially conscious fashion house is one of the few luxury labels out there pushing for sustainability within the industry, and as always, they delivered in more ways than one.
Breaking all the stereotypes that often are associated with eco-friendly clothing, three year old Maiyet offers a refreshingly diverse collection to rival any other established name.
Handwoven skirts were complemented by black ankle boots sourced and made in India, New York and Indonesia, while their partnership with non-profit Nest helps Maiyet’s founders Kristy Caylor and Paul Van Zil to collaborate with artisans and achieve their excellent level of craftstmanship.
Ethics aside, the autumn winter 14 collection was full of texture, fusing quirky ready to wear with form fitting flirty pieces. An eclectic mix of wool, satin and sheer fabrics covering day to night looks.
