H&M‘s second conscious exclusive collection has arrived for the spring season, and with it comes a wardrobe of feminine forms and delicate romantic detailing. Focused solely on eveningwear, the collection takes inspiration from the flamboyance of spanish culture – hints of matador and flamenco dancer are shown in the ruffles, lace and heavily embellished waistcoats.
With the objective of these conscious collections being to design ethically produced stylish pieces, the limited
edition line features organic cotton, recycled polyester and vegetable tanned leather – a collaborative project in partnership with sustainable think tank Ever Manifesto. Socially conscious fashion entrepreneur and face of the H&M Conscious line, Amber Valetta said on the subject of ethical high street clothing;
“There’s a movement happening in fashion for everything to become more sustainable, more responsible… its important for companies like H&M to take steps and be leaders”
Indeed, H&M does have the clout to influence other retailers, but as we enter the new season, will conscious fashion have staying power to outlast the trends? H&M are steadily proving that ethical isn’t just another fad.
H&M’s Conscious Exclusive collection will be available in stores and online from April 10th. See the full collection here
Next month H&M will also be introducing a ‘Clever Care‘ label, informing customers how to care for their clothes in a more sustainable way.
