IKEA Meets 100% Sustainable Cotton Goal

IKEA Better CottonIKEA reached its 100% sustainable cotton milestone this month, as the furniture retailer announced that by working with the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) it now means that all cotton sold in store comes from more “sustainable sources” in keeping with the company’s sustainability report released earlier this year.

The news means that IKEA is the world’s first international retailer to use solely sustainable or traceable cotton sources in its products, following on from their promise to work with cotton in more environmentally friendly ways. The pledge particularly focuses on sourcing from farmers who use less water chemical fertilisers and pesticides from countries such as India, Pakistan, Turkey, China, Brasil and the U.S.
