From Thursday 6th-Saturday 8th March Marks & Spencer return with their shwop shop clothing event in partnership with Oxfam. This time the focus will be on children’s clothing, and proceeds will go towards M&S’s ‘Love Mum’ shwopping campaign and Oxfam’s Mother Appeal.
Taking place at Oxfam’s Marble arch store, donations will be taken from the public as well as celebrity supporters such as Shwopping ambassador Joanna Lumley, Abbey Clancey, Zoe Ball and Rochelle Humes. With the help of M&S’s fundraising scheme, The Mother Appeal hopes to raise £10 million to support poverty stricken families around the globe. With added government support, every pound raised will be doubled.
To take part you must bring an unwanted item of children’s clothing, in exchange for a new piece. Swap it and shop it, to put it simply. The initiative was launched in 2012, and has been hugely successful, receiving more than £6.9 million worth of garments in its first year alone!
