Sustainable fashion advocate Lily Cole, has introduced her latest venture in the world of eco-friendly design. In the past, the fashion model has established her own made in Britain wool accessory label, The North Circular, and more recently she has supported Veja footwear in their mission to protect the rainforest.
Now, with her latest project, Wild Rubber, Lily is continuing her efforts to protect endangered wildlife and maintain livelihoods, by introducing amazonian rainforest rubber as a sustainable alternative to forest plantation.
“Simply put, by paying locals in the Amazon a premium price for tapping wild – rather than plantation – rubber, you are essentially paying them to protect the rainforest & allowing them to make a living…”
<p style=”text-align: left;”>Cole’s biggest wish is to see this material being used on a mass scale – to show that it not only promotes the use of eco-friendly materials, but provides artisanal jobs to the local people.
