When LFW approaches, there’s always one label in particular we look forward to seeing. Christopher Raeburn is the King of salvaged style and his street wear designs always cleverly incorporate reworked military fabrics, such as parachute silks and khaki uniform materials.
The SS16 collection titled “Sarawak” was inspired by the jungle territory of Borneo and the theme of female explorers. As an advocate of sustainable fashion, Raeburn managed to mix artisanal designs with more technical pieces.
Floaty and feminine silhouettes in patchwork prints contrasted with structured tough khaki pieces and utilitarian net details, as well as sheer fabrics, for a collection that Raeburn describes as “one of our most experimental collections to date.”
“Sarawak” considers a woman negotiating an unknown environment – encapsulating a spirit of adventure, freedom and the discovery of new horizons.”
