This month organic t-shirt company MetaWear launched the U.S’ first solar and geothermal powered manufacturing factory, certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard.
The GOTS covers processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, trading and distribution of all textiles made from at least 70% certified organic fiber. All custom goods are environmentally friendly, made using toxic-free seaweed based inks, while workers are paid a liveable wage.
“MetaWear is on its way to revolutionizing the USA textile industry one GOTS-certified organic T-shirt at a time.” – Under The Canopy founder, Marci Zaroff.
If being GOTS certified wasn’t enough, MetaWear is currently producing the world’s first Cradle to Cradle Certified™ t-shirt for sustainable lifestyle company Under The Canopy. Using organic cotton instead of regular cotton greatly reduces the potential of global warming, soil erosion, water use and energy demand.
