High street retailer & Other Stories has introduced a clothing and beauty recycling initiative by partnering with collection service I:CO. & Other Stories is sister brand to H&M, who introduced a customer drop off garment recycling scheme in 2013, saving tonnes of consumer waste from landfill.
Similar to H&M, from day one & Other Stories allowed customers to bring back empty containers from their beauty line, but now the initiative has expanded to items of clothing. How it works is that you can bring any textiles in any condition and from any brand (doesn’t have to be purchased from them), to any branch and receive a thank you voucher knocking 10% off your next purchase.
“Each piece, no matter its age or condition, is a valuable source of raw material,” said Samuel Fernström, the managing director of & Other Stories. “By recycling with us, customers will prolong the life of a garment & help limiting the amount of textiles that end up in landfills.”
Your donated items will be given a new lease of life in the form of insulation material for the construction materials industry, geofleece, carpet underlay, as well as for rear shelves in cars, stuffed toys, shoe insoles and more.
