Photographer Fabrice Monteiro and costume designer Jah Gal have combined their visual talents for an art project in collaboration with the Ecofund Organisation called ‘The Prophecy’.
Hauntingly depicting the issue of pollution in Senegal, the series of breathtaking photographs captures waste filled African landscapes across ten locations, while giant ethereal figures are adorned in garbage and debris.
From charred barren lands to exhaust fumed roads and polluted beaches, these powerful images highlight the ecological problems of the region. One image focuses on a human posed as a dying tree amidst a bush fire, while another photo shows a looming figure of a woman, dressed in plastic rubbish, as she rises from Senegal’s largest waste dump.
Photographs in this series are currently on display at the exhibition ‘Africa: architecture, culture and identity’ at the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, until October 25th 2015.
