Primark Pays Extra £6 Million Compensation To Rana Plaza Victims

Primark are to pay an extra £6 million to 581 garment victims of the Rana Plaza collapse almost a year after the tragic incident, which took over 1000 workers lives. £1 million from the compensation will go towards a communal compensation pot which will be shared by 3,600 employees whose livelihoods have been affected by the collapse in April last year.

Rana PlazaActivists hope that this action will set a precedent for other stores to follow in their footsteps and pay full compensation for the devastation they were partly accountable for. Previously the major British retailer had paid £2 million short term compensation, bringing the total sum of payouts to £12 million.
