Sustainable Spotlight: A Alicia

A Alicia BroochLondon based jewellery and home ware designer Anna Alicia, has us hooked with her hand crafted embroidered statement pieces using handmade organic and vintage fabrics. Reinforcing the importance of traditional craftsmanship, the ethnic collar necklaces, with the set of pom poms each side, are her most recognised pieces, and our personal favourites.

Anna studied art history at Kent University, later completing a masters in fine art at Central Saint Martins – a subject which has heavily influenced her work. Now based in Stratford, East London, she holds  regular workshops within the capital, teaching others the world of sustainable craft.

For embroidery enthusiasts, lessons such as ‘how to build a set of hand embroidered notebooks’ are what you can expect, but craft lovers out there need to be quick, as classes are A Alica Notebooksalways a sell out – a true testament to Anna’s talent.

As for her own designs, you will find a number of hand made pieces, from brooches to cushions, to wedding jewellery, all made from recycled, or vintage  and repurposed materials, while even the packaging is biodegradable or made from recycled fibres.
