Irish university lead fashion label Ethnic Threads is certainly the cool brand around campus. Not just because of the standout eclectic statement print bomber jackets, but because each piece is ethically sourced and fair trade, made by tailors in undeveloped regions within East Africa.
By partnering with Khama UK, Ethnic Threads is a not for profit that gives back to communities, specifically in Malawi, the ‘warm heart of Africa’, where local people are trained to become artisans, receive an education and improve on their way of life.
Specialising in statement print outerwear, Ethnic Threads is an urban brand with a taste for quality over quantity, with authenticity and transparency at its core. Each piece is made from African waxed Kintenge cotton, making them ideal for festivals and dreary British weather. The cotton is dyed, spinned and picked locally by the women of Kasungu, Malawi.
