At ATTYRE we understand the importance of excellent artisanship. You can’t deny it’s refreshing to divert from the rails of mass produced clothing once in a while, and invest in an item that isn’t trend led, but made using raw skills and passion.
Founded in 2012, SOKO is a jewellery label that works with artisans in impoverished African villages, to create a company that injects the beauty of African craftsmanship with the spirit of a community. What’s different about SOKO is that they provide local entrepreneurs with the technological tools to connect worldwide, encouraging fair trade production through mobile technology and cutting out the middle man.
“Soko is an innovation in global fashion and technology: An online store that connects online consumers to global makers and handcrafted jewelry from the developing world.”
The new ‘Kenyan Collection’ consists of natural and recycled materials, such as upcycled bones and metals, with traditional African beadwork. All items are handcrafted, and a browse through their online store will tell you just who each piece was crafted by, along with their unique business background.
