London based furniture designer and upcycle enthusiast Yinka Llori‘s latest project is a collection of five statement seats titled “If Chairs Could Talk.” Inspired by African fabrics and Nigerian culture, Yinka’s upcycled vintage chairs are vibrant in colour and experimental in form, eccentric and of course, guaranteed to add some life to your living room. Incorporated into each contemporary design is the idea of storytelling and a sense of Yinka’s childhood memories.
“With each custom made piece inspired by a parable, Ilori restores new life and purpose to reclaimed materials. His furniture takes on new meanings depending on how it is used or positioned.”
But on a more serious note Yinka’s zero waste designs address the issues of our throwaway culture and are aimed to inspire us to reclaim and reinvent our ‘waste’ rather than have it (often unnecessarily), destined for landfill.
Interested in seeing Yinka’s designs up close? His work is currently stocked at The Shop at Bluebird London, as part of the London Design Festival until the end of November.
