Alaskan commercial fishing captain Craig Kasberg wants to do something about all the wasted by products that the fishing industry overlooks.
Reducing fish waste and encouraging sustainable fishing, Tidal Vision, which was established in 2014, takes inspiration from ocean communities, using by products from the fish and crab industry for making fashion and accessories. It’s already a growing trend within the industry, from eel skin clutches to fish skin leather textile alternatives and even Nike Atlantic salmon leather trainers.
“We believe that if the Ocean’s byproducts were used to their fullest potential, it would add value to the fisheries struggling from the costs of protecting against overfishing, pollution, and habitat damaging fishing methods.”
