With tonnes of plastic toxic waste reaching landfills each month, it’s great to see an artist like Veronika Richterova using her upcycling skills for the greater good and producing some stunning visuals while she’s at it. Thanks to her artistic innovation, over 3,000 PET plastic objects have been saved from landfill, from over 76 countries to this date.
Specialising in recycling PET bottles, the Czech artist creates sculptures and figures inspired by the beauty of nature. From plastic bottle cactuses, to a cluster of bats on a tree branch, the PET is heated, shaped and fixed with lighting, giving her work a contemporary and eye catching aesthetic.
Referring to her sculptures as ‘creative recycling,’ Veronika wants to generate more interest towards this form of ecological art. She currently is working towards creating a PET plastic folk art movement and even teaches creative upcycling workshops for children and adults.
