This season U.S Footwear and apparel company Vans travelled to Ghana to team up with socially responsible L.A based fashion brand Della, for an exclusive spring/summer capsule collection of six limited edition pieces.
The collaboration aims to raise awareness of Della founder Tina Gangalakis’s artisan initiative, which strives to empower women in Ghana’s Volta Region, West Africa, by finding them work in the textile industry, working with sustainable materials.
This special collection also features a variety of Batik printed women’s bags in the style of Della’s signature ‘hobo’ bag, while the classic Vans Sk8-Hi Reissue, Era, Authentic, and Sk8-Hi Slim have been given a vibrant bohemian makeover. Each piece represents the colours and culture of the Volta Region, showcasing the Della women’s handcrafted skills.
Since 2009, Della has provided women with the education, skills and training for a better future. By working with Vans, each purchase will help to support women in developing villages with healthcare, literacy skills and fair wages.
