Opening worldwide in just 8 days, the movie True Cost is an in depth look into the behind the scenes of the fast fashion industry, the disconnect within the supply chain and its devastating effects on the environment and the people behind the labels.
The makers of the docu-film, (which includes Livia Firth and Lucy Siegle), want it to inspire consumers and act as a catalyst towards change – opening our eyes towards the not so pretty side of fashion. The side of cheap labour, waste and frivolity that comes with over consumption and cheap manufacturing.
But it’s not all doom and gloom. True Cost also wants us to focus on positive happenings within the sustainable fashion industry, particularly Fashion Revolution Day, which encourages consumers and retailers to ask #whomadeymyclothes and promote second hand and zero waste fashion.
